Warning Regarding Job Offer Scams

Thank you for your interest in pursuing a career at BuzzClan. It’s important to us that you have a positive, fair, and safe recruiting experience.

Occasionally we hear from people who have experienced job offer scams. These scams take many forms, but one we have seen is run by impersonators who pretend to be BuzzClan recruiters. They may contact candidates through legitimate recruiting websites and use the names of BuzzClan employees to interview you for jobs based on our real job listings. The scam jobs look real but are designed to steal your information. Ultimately, scammers may conduct fake interviews via Google Hangouts, request sensitive personal information, and/or ask you to open a “job offer” document/link that has malware attached.

How can you verify a recruiting contact? BuzzClan recruits through BuzzTAQ, and will always conduct a live interview (initially by phone and/or video, not text chat) to get to know you. Our emails are from @buzzclan.com, @buzzclan.net or an @buzzclan.ca address. We do not use Gmail or other free email sites to contact candidates. Our real jobs are posted on BuzzTAQ or on our Careers portal, and that is where you should apply to any BuzzClan roles that are a good fit.

Please contact resume@buzzclan.com if you have any questions about a recruiting experience or to report your scam suspicions to our PeopleOps and Security groups, so that they can add data to our ongoing efforts to fight job offer scams. If you want to file your own report, the local law enforcement or the recruiting site where you were contacted may be helpful.
